People: Portrait photography or portraiture is photography featuring a person or group of people displaying the expression, personality, and mood of the subject. Like other types of portraiture, the focus of the photograph is usually the person's face, although the entire body and the background may be included.
Landscape: This category comprises the visible features of an area of land, including mountains, hills, water bodies, vegetation, buildings and structures. Outdoor scenic, nature images, sunsets, urban landscapes, seascapes, cityscapes, and farms.
Animals: birds, fish or reptiles are part of animal photography. Getting the eyes in focus is key to capturing a photo of an animal. Getting closer to the action, yet staying a safe distance is the key to photographing wildlife.
Digital art: Art that is created using computer software in which a photo image is used as a basis. Combining photographic elements; applying post-processing filters to significantly alter a photograph; adding borders or decorative frames to photographs.
Macro: Macro photography involves close-ups, usually of very small subjects. Classically a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject is greater than life size. Details might include a knot, a lock, or an abstract close-up. Anything goes as long as it is a tight composition of a detail.
Still life: This category is the depiction of inanimate subject matter, most typically a small grouping of objects. Still life gives the photographer more leeway in the arrangement of design elements within a composition.
Black and white: Black and white, sepia or duotone photographs of any subject qualify. No additional color may be present. Black and white photography is the creation of monochrome images using photographic techniques. The resulting image is limited to monochromatic hues, although filters may be applied to add a hue or tint.
Street photography: is photography that features the human condition within public places and does not necessitate the presence of a street or even the urban environment. The subject of the photograph might be absent of people and can be an object or environment where the image projects a decidedly human character in facsimile or aesthetic.

Rule of Thirds
The rule of thirds is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to section.
